The Virginia Northern Neck Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated was chartered on April 29, 2007 at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury in Irvington, Virginia. The chapter was chartered to serve Essex, Richmond, Northumberland, Lancaster, Westmoreland, Mathews, and Middlesex counties. Since that time, the members have worked diligently to serve the community with innovative programs and projects. Each year the chapter implements a full program agenda that encompasses each aspect of the Sorority's Five Point Programmatic Thrust.
At present, the chapter has 32 members. All of whom hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree and a large percentage of whom have advanced degrees. Professional disciplines of the members encompass the fields of education, social work, finance, medical, environmental, entrepreneurship, religion, consulting, human services, state and federal government.
The chapter welcomes the opportunity to partner with other organizations and community leaders that share the same goals and ideals. Reciprocal support of the chapter's efforts is also welcomed.

Delta Sigma Theta's mission is to inform, educate and empower our community to achieve economic sustainability.
Each year, local Delta Chapters conduct projects designed to address the community's concerns about excellence in education. On a national level, Delta's pursuit of educational excellence takes the form of scholarships and grants to individual members and local chapters.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has always been a proponent of helping those who are in need, especially in third world countries. This involvement led to the establishment of several chapters outside of the United States.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has programs designed to address health education programs and health fairs. Delta also supports medical research that examines illnesses that affect specific segments of the country's population.
Though non-partisan in nature and purpose, Delta understands the importance of and the need for an informed electorate. Delta's concern for the public's "need-to-know" and the enfranchisement of all Americans has been the philosophical basis for public service programs in this area.
